St. Paul, Minn. — Sen. Al Franken’s first piece of legislation–the Service Dogs for Veterans Act–is on its way to the White House for approval.
The Veterans Administration would develop partnerships with organizations that provide disabled veterans with service dogs. Franken said he introduced the legislation after meeting a veteran who said his service dog improved his quality of life. Read On » » »

YONKERS – The family of a severely diabetic boy has sued the school district after it refused to let him bring what he maintains is a trained glucose-sensitive service dog to school.
Anthony Spataro, 8, and his mother, Samantha Spataro, accuse school officials of violating the state’s Human Rights Law by not allowing Anthony to bring Dash, a 5-month-old black male Labrador, into Paideia School 15 on the first day of school.
